Scope

With this Privacy Policy we inform users about which data is collected and for what purpose and about how it is collected and used by the service provider.

The legal framework for the data protection is the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz – BDSG) and the Telecommunications Act (Telemediengesetz – TMG).

Collecting of general information

Every time this website is accessed certain information is automatically recorded by us, or more specifically by the web service provider. This information, also known as the server log files, is of a general nature and does not permit us to draw any inferences about you as an individual.

Among other information the following data is collected: the name of the website, file, date, data volume, web browser and web browser version, the operating system, the domain name of your Internet service provider, the URL (Uniform Resource Locator – the web address from which you accessed our website) and the IP address.

Without this data it would be partially impossible to provide access to and display the content of the website. To that extent the recording of this data is absolutely necessary. In addition, we use this anonymous information for statistical purposes. It helps us to optimize our website and technology. We reserve the right to check the log files if we suspect illegal use of our website.

How we handle personal data

Definition: “personal data” refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“data subject”). So this is data that can be traced back to an individual.

Personal data includes an individual’s name, telephone number and email address. It also includes information on hobbies, memberships and preferences, as well as the websites that they access.

This data is only collected, used and in certain cases passed on by the service provider if the lawgiver expressly allows this or if the user gives their consent for the recording, processing, use, and transfer of the data.

Contact form

If you wish to contact us using the online form or by email, we will store the information you give us in order to answer your enquiry and pose any follow-up questions.

Services and contents provided by third parties

Our website may contain the content and services of other providers, for example maps made accessible through Google Maps, videos posted on YouTube and diagrams and images from other websites. For this data to be accessed and viewed in a user’s browser the transmission of the user’s IP address to these providers is necessary. These providers (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) thus receive the IP address of individual users.

Although we do our best to use third-party providers who require IP addresses only in order to deliver content, we have no influence over whether IP addresses are stored or not. If they are, it is for statistical purposes among others. To the extent that we are aware that IP addresses are being stored, we notify our users of this.

We make use of services provided by the following third-party providers in particular:

  • Google
(Maps, Fonts, Forms, Captchas, Docs, Drive). These services are provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Privacy policy, terms of use, technologies and principles as well as FAQs: https://policies.google.com/?hl=de

  • Adobe
To view certain contents on our web pages, the Adobe products Acrobat Reader and Flash Player are required. The European operating company is Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited, 4-6 Riverwalk, Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24, Republic of Ireland. Privacy policy: https://www.adobe.com/de/privacy/policy.html
  • jQuery libraries
Certain jQuery technologies are used on our web pages.
  • Links and embeds
Links and embeds to or of third-party providers are used on our web pages: vimeo.com, facebook.com (not plug-in!), twitter.com (also not plug-in!) and issuu.com. These links and embeds use a supplier code. When this is clicked or called up on our website it loads the desired content. In this way user data is transferred to the corresponding provider’s website.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. These are text files stored by the server on your computer. They contain information on your browser, IP address, operating system and Internet connection. We do not provide this data to third parties or link it with personal data without your consent.

Cookies mainly fulfill two functions. They help us to simplify your navigation through our web pages and they allow the website to be displayed correctly. They are not used to introduce viruses or run programs.

Users can access our web pages without cookies being used. To this end the appropriate changes must be made in the browser settings. Please use your browser’s help function for more information on how to deactivate cookies. Please note, however, that deactivating cookies may interfere with some of the website’s functions and restrict user comfort. The sites http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ (US) and http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/ (Europe) allow you to manage online advertisement cookies.

Use of Piwik/Matomo

This website uses the open-source software Piwik/Matomo, which collects and stores data. This information is used for marketing and optimization purposes. Piwik/Matomo uses the data to create user profiles in which the user ID is replaced with a pseudonym. To this end it stores cookies (text files) on your computer which can be used to analyze how you use the website. Your IP address is anonymized immediately after it is processed and before it is stored. This data is then stored on the servers of the provider in Germany.

If you do not want Piwik/Motomo to store cookies, you may block them in your browser settings (please refer to your browser’s help function for more information). This may limit your ability to use all of the functions available.

More information as well as Matomo’s data privacy rules are available at https://matomo.org/privacy.

Data economy

In accordance with the principles of data avoidance and data economy, we store personal data only for as long as necessary or prescribed by law (statutory retention period). If the purpose for which the information was collected ceases to apply or the retention period ends, we will block or delete the data.

Your rights to information, correction, blocking, deletion and objection

You have the right to be informed about any of your personal data that has been stored and/or to demand that it be corrected, blocked or deleted free of charge on request. Exceptions: the data legally required to be retained for business transaction purposes or data necessary to comply with statutory retention requirements.

If you wish to exercise this right, please contact our data privacy officer (contact information below).

To enable us to implement a data lock at all times, data must be stored in a locked file for control purposes. If there are no legal archiving obligations, you may also request that the data be deleted. Otherwise we will block your data if you so desire.

Automated decision-making procedures

As a responsible business we do not use automated decision-making procedures or profiling.

Modifications to our Privacy Policy

To ensure that our Privacy Policy complies with legal requirements, we reserve the right to modify it at any time. This also applies to cases in which the Privacy Policy needs to be modified as a result of new or revised services. The updated Privacy Policy then takes effect with your next visit to our website.
